Dear Stat Students,
It is my pleasure to have you in my Fall 2010 Statistics class. Please don’t forget to attend my orientation on August 31, 5:30 PM in room AB121 located in the Acacia building. This is a required orientation and no shows will be dropped from the class to allow others on the wait list to register.
In the mean time here are some notes about the textbook that we will be using:
Title: Essentials of Statistics 4th edition (Custom edition)
Author: Triola
Publisher: Pearson
If you purchase the book from the school bookstore you will get the book and an access code for the online material which also includes the online copy of the textbook. This way you have basically two copies of the book, one in printed form and the other in electronic form. However if your prefer not to get the printed copy then you can only purchase an online access code which will give you access to the course and an electronic copy of the book. The access code can be purchased from the www.coursecompass.com or school’s bookstore. I suggest buying the package (book+code) since we have a special pricing negotiated with the publisher.
To get into my online course you need to do two things:
A. Enroll into Math 63, section #202 and ID#56261 with Evergreen Valley College (online or in person at the office of admissions & records). High School students need to go to the admissions office for registration.
B. Register into my website where the course material is located. To do this you need the following (this should be done after our orientation):
1. Access code for the website (www.coursecompass.com)
2. The following info about my course:
| Your Course Name: |
Elementary Statistics |
| Your Course ID: |
To be given later at the orientation |
3. A valid email address
4. After our orientation go to the www.coursecompass.com and using the above info register as a student in my section. Please make sure your name matches with your official name as used at EVC.
I will give you more detail during our orientation. See you soon.
Dr.T
PS. You need a calculator (any kind), access to a good computer and internet.
